2010 USTA Adult and Senior League Tennis Team Registration Opens Nov. 20

The 2010 League season will soon be upon us. Teams may start registering November 20, 2010 to play in the Southern USTA Ashland League. Year end Ratings are to be out around Thanksgiving. If you need help finding a team or players please contact Jerry Groce. Deadline for initial roster is December 20, 2009.

USTA League Tennis is the world’s largest recreational tennis league providing organized, structured team matches for all ability levels. The program is open to women and men 19 years and older, with skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Local winners can move on to compete in state, sectional and even national championships.

In 2009, USTA League Tennis has one season for adults beginning in January and ending in May. Team play consists of 2 singles and 3 doubles positions. The only exception is the 2.0, 2.5 and 5.0 level, which consists of 1 singles and 2 doubles positions. Play is on weekends. Teams from Ashland, Chillicothe,Huntington and Portsmouth participate.

The National Tennis Rating Program (NRTP) is used to determine playing levels and USTA Atlanta offers league play at the 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 levels.Players may self-rate unless they have a current computer rating. USTA membership is required for all participants. Check the Ashland League Calendar for Spring, Summer, and Fall dates and deadlines!
